Many copies of IFW can't work with one vmdk simultaneously

Post by The_Immortal »

Hello!

My task is to copy the content of vmdk to N-computers. So I loaded on target PC #1 WinPE with Image For Windows. Then I start IFW and choose virtual disk (vmdk-file) from net-disk - then copy process started. Ok. Now I go to target PC #2, start there IFW and choose the same vmdk as virtual disk to copy from but IFW ignore it and don't add the disk... So I need to wait while IFW on PC #1 will end to copy the content of vmdk to its hard drive. But I can't wait...

Is there a way to cheat IFW? And what's the problem? Why copies of IFW can't read the file simultaneously?

Thank you!

P.S. I know about MulticastSender but I'd like to use my way. Or using MulticastSender is the only way for my task? If so how can I convert vmdk to tbi? Is there a tbs script for this?

the file would be locked to prevent updating, you could try setting the
read-only attribute, although it may need more.

for multicast, you need to create an image, then you can multicast that on
restore.
