Hi,

I can mount the hard disk containing the image I with to restore, I
select detect drive changes and it does not appear. The drive was
mounted(/net1), but does not appear in IFL proper for image selection.
Please advise where I go from here?

Update - connected a USB drive to the PC to be restored and used IfL,
get an error message that new media is required but the new media is
in use. cannot progress with IfL, now trying with IfD, which is much
slower. IfD gives the same error message.

I made a full disk backup of my daughter's Net Book and must have made
a mistake in the removing of the system partition as the sucker would
not boot up. Just trying to get it in the state it was in before I
started.

I'm now stuck. Please advise.

If it's a network drive where the file is, you use "File (OS)" and follow
the path to the file.

what exactly are you doing? That could come up on a restore of
differential if trying to use the same CD/DVD drive for both files on
different discs.

Hi,

I initially created the backup, a differential with one original file, on a networked disk. Had trouble with that (seemed could only mount drive and not recognize any hardware/drive changes on rescanning).

So, copied all backup files to an external USB drive that I connected to the netbook directly. Both IfD and IfL, failed similarly close to the end of the restore with the "new media is required but the new media is
in use" message. I never use CD/DVD disks for backing up as my critical backups are too big.

Just a thought, I'm at work so cannot check, could an inadvertent typo between the full and diff filename cause the failure? Clutching at straws here.

Thanks

DrT

Hi,

I don't want to hex anything, but the restore via the network (thanks
for the 'FileOS' pointer) is progressive well ATM.

It is worrying that the same backup files crapped out (to use a
technical term) at roughly the same place. I backup all PCs to my main
PC over the network, then sync them to an external USB drive.

missing a file?

Anyway, the network option for the file is accessed via File (OS). It won't
be detected as any hardware change, you can only use the network drive for
the files and you access them via File (OS).

No. There were/are only two files in the backup set and I can confirm
that the contents of the two mirrors are identical. The network
restore worked perfectly.
