I too had the BSOD on my HP Mini 2140 after I replace the ntdetect file.

I resolve the BSOD problem by going into the BIOS:
System Configuration > Device Configuration >
Disable Data Execution Prevention,
Disable SATA Native Mode.

0x7B would be an issue of not having the driver for the new system. Disable
SATA Native Mode probably reverted back to PATA compatibility mode and then
it would boot. You could have also used osdtool.tbs to install the storage
driver needed.
