Accessing BING maintenance mode via HDD impossible

Some time ago I reinstalled BING from an old installation diskette created on another PC. Thereafter I was only able to boot into my Win7 partition by means of this diskette.

Recently I created a new installation diskette (Version 1.87) on my current PC, bootet with it and choose "Upgrade" (which by the way was the only option available whereas I thought I have seen formerly the options "Reinstall BootIt NG" and "Access BootIt NG Partition").

After that upgrade I was able to boot into my Win7 quite normally from HDD and all the volumes deployed over my two SATA HDD's are available.

The only thing I cannot do is to access the maintenance mode when booting from HDD. When I try to do this, a dialog field called "maintenance" pops up telling me "Maintenance password is required". There ist no input line but just the buttons "Cancel" and "OK". However these buttons do not react. The screen ist frozen and no input whatsoever is processed any more. I have to push the reset button of my computer, change back the boot sequence to Floppy first and access the maintenance mode via the installation diskette. But what should I do there in order to get back to normal?Image

You'd need to install/reinstall from a diskette or UFD, then boot that disk
again and choose access BootIt NG partition, then go in to settings and
removed the password.

How do I reinstall if I am only offered "Upgrade"? (see the following picture)

Do I really have to uninstall BING first and then install it again? Am I mistaken that there should be a reinstall option somewhere in the floppy boot procedure?

it's the same thing as reinstalling, the media has to be writable for it to
work.

You could uninstall then reinstall as well.

As the heading says I cannot access BING maintenance mode via HDD.
If I boot using the BING installation diskette (write enabled) I am offered two options only:
- I can upgrade BootIt NG (see picture in my previous post) or
- I can go to Maintenance Mode

If I upgrade I end up with the same situation.
In Maintenance Mode > Utilities the menu item "Uninstall" is greyed out as you can see in the following picture:

What can I do now? Go to Partition Work and "Undo the EMBR"? Would that activate the Uninstall option?

You upgrade, then reboot that media, you'll then have the option to access
the partition (if not, the media may not have been writable), after which
you go to maintenance and remove the password.

After confirming my only leftover option "Upgrade BootIt NG" and rebooting I got the " reinstall BootIt NG" option back to together with "Access BootIt NG Partition" as you mentioned. I was able to delete the Maintenance Password in accordance with your instructions.

However, the situation seems to be worse now than in my first posting. When I make HDD my first boot device I do not even see the bootloader any more. I see my SATA drives correctly mentioned as well as the "AHCI BIOS installed" message but then the display turns black and freezes. I have to press the Reset button. If I continue with this boot sequence it may very soon happen that there are no drives detected all and that it takes several attempts before I can regain acces to the BIOS in order to make the Floppy my first boot device again.

I tried the one-time options "Next BIOS device" and "BIOS sequence" with Floppy first and HDD second in the BIOS without a difference. If I left the Floppy in place it booted from the Floppy. If I removed it, the Floppy started rattling and thereafter the screen again turned black and froze.

I am attaching my BING settings below. Perhaps somebody could give me a hint as to what else I could try? Or is the problem solely within my BIOS (Mobo H55M-USB3 AWARD BIOS) or even the hardware? This appears to me not very likely though because once up again in BING or Windows by means of the BING installation diskette, I have no difficulties whatsoever to access my two SATA HDD's and the DVD drive and work with them.

how far does it get .. do you see any messages about bootit embri or embrl
flash by? If not, it's not booting the HD, check your BIOS settings or try
setting default or optimal values. Ensure the BIOS can talk to the HD (boot
BING or BIBM and access the drive via partition work), if not it may be the
HD is failing, otherwise it's something in your bios boot order or setting
as the first thing that happens if it boots the HD is some messages are
printed. Then when moving to GUI mode, if it gets that far (past the
message), you'll get a black screen until it comes up, if problems, change
the video mode to VGA and try that.
