I mysteriously lost the ability to boot Win7 using bootitng a few days ago.
The 2nd OS (Win8.1 preview) would boot. I got no error message. Everytime
I clicked on the Win7 selection to boot, the screen went black as if it were
starting to boot and then a short time later came back to the bootit menu.
I finally had to restore the entire partition from an image I'd made in
early Dec. However, after the install, the computer booted immediately to
Win7 with no bootit menu, which was expected. However, when I tried to
reactive using my bootitng disk, I got the reinstall menu option rather than
the reactivate that I expected. I went with the reinstall, which was
proclaimed successful, but when I rebooted, I still had no boot menu. I've
tried several times and each time it asks to reinstall, not reactivate. It
is installed to the 8MB partition at the end of drive 0. Win7 is installed
on drive 1. What can I do to get this fixed? At present I cannot see the
Win 8.1 partitions and would like to get them back and erase them, since the
preview has almost expired. Using the bootit disk alone does not allow me
to unhide those partitions, as I can't work with the boot menus. And I can
no longer boot to windows 8.
Thanks for any help.
