BIBM without mouse or keyboard

Postby skipro » Sat Oct 27, 2012 2:02 pm

I am working on a Gateway computer with only USB ports for mouse & keyboard.
I am using PS2 devices with a USB to PS2 adapter. Adapter works fine. When I
boot with BIBM disk, I have no mouse or keyboard function. I tried disabling
USB legacy support in BIOS, to no avail. What can I do?

Could BIBM be Linux based? Would this avoid the USB issues?

you'd need to ensure USB Legacy support for the keyboard is enabled (not
disabled) since you're using a USB keyboard.

Thanks, but it does not work either way. Any suggestions or options?

Skipro,

Mouse support in BiNG/BIBM is a crap shoot at best, USB-KB works most
often though.

You'll just need to try a variety of USB mice of diferent brands until
you find one that works in your situation.

My limited experience is the more basic the mouse, the more likely it
is to work.

My own experience is that wired mouse may work better than a
cordless mouse. AND they are usually cheaper since you are
testing it out anyway.

You should "play" with the bios settings.
I had a similar problem with BING on my gigabyte mobo.
If I had enabled
usb legacy support=on
usb keyboard support=on
usb mouse support=on
Bing or IFD could not detect neither the mouse nor the keyboard.

In my case the settings that worked wer:
usb legacy support=on
usb keyboard support=on
usb mouse support=of
With those BING could detect both the mouse and the keyboard.
