Windows 9x MBR

Post by Ed Smith »

I noticed using makedisk.exe to make my CD for bootitbm 1.12 that in the
"Global Geometry and MBR Options (optional)" window that it has at the
bottom "Use Windows 9x MBR".

It also shows 9xMBR in the pdf manual.

In previous versions it had Windows 7 MBR.

Don't know if this is a typo or by design since Windows 8 isn't out yet let
alone Windows 9.

Is it correct to be showing the option "Use Windows 9x MBR" instead of being
"Windows 7 MBR ?

Thank You,
Ed.

Maybe I'm showing my age but when I see Windows 9x, I read it as Windows
95 or one of the flavors of Windows 98.
I've been using PCs since MSDOS days and computers since 64K RAM and
punched cards or punched tape. FORTRAN overlays was an art since memory
was so limited.

The default was changed to use the Windows Vista/7 MBR type. Selecting the 9x (Windows 95/98) option will use the older type.

OK... thank you the reply and clarification. Does the default Vista/7 MBR
type also apply to Windows XP ?

Thank You,
Ed.
