Wipe vs Secure Wipe

Simple question: What's the difference between and wipe and a secure wipe in BootIt BM? I'm guessing a wipe fills the drive with zeroes, and a secure wipe fills the drive with random data.

See page 38 of the manual.

Ping TBU: The above post is reported as no longer being available in my news client (Forte v7).

The latest version also adds the simple erase (all zeros) to the secure
hardware wipe even though it's not technically a secure wipe (enhanced wipe
is) as that is used by most SSD devices to clear/reset them to all zeros and
sometimes recommended by the SSD manufactures to recover from problems. To
get hardware wiping options, you have to use BIOS (direct) Bus type and only
works for entire drive wipes.

A test message posted here using the web interface also downloaded okay as are the messages from the other NGs that I monitor.

With this whole thread, the headers download but with a message saying that the post is no longer available. Unfortunately, this glitch co-insides with a very quiet period on this news server so cannot check things properly :( .

You have indicated that you are using Agent 7.
One of the changes in 7 is (from the release notes):-

>"A message body can be retrieved using its article number or its Message-ID. Prior to version 7.0 the default for Agent was to retrieve by article number and revert to using the Message-ID if that failed. With this release we have changed the default to always retrieve by Message-ID. We made this change because retrieval by Message-ID is now generally faster and more reliable.

>We also added the Request message bodies by Message-ID option to the Advanced News Server Settings dialog, which you can uncheck if you want to revert to the old behavior."

I have noted in the past that there is a 'quirk' in the Terabyte NNTP
software that stops me getting messages by Message-ID.

Try unchecking the option referred to above for the Terabyte news
server.
