BIU vs HP Sure Start UFEI

Post by bsound »

As described many times by other users in this forum, BIU is often bumped off the the top of the boot order. Apparently it's my HP UEFI bios that is doing this, and promoting Windows Boot Manager as the top boot item.

Auto-reactivate in BIU doesn't really help - because BIU has to be started for the re-activation to be actioned. And I've had BIU disappear off the list of boot items altogether (requiring BIU re-activation from USB install media).

I think it would be great if Terabyte Unlimited could come up with a more user friendly option to work-around this phenomenon -- possibly with an option in bootnowu.exe, or another TSR (like TBI Notify is).

My current work-around is to use a simple TBOSDT script .run files in combination with bootnowu.exe. I've made shortcuts to the scripts, running as Administrator.

to ensure a restart into BIU (note: your 0x for BIU may be different):
set uefi bootnext 0x7449
reboot

to boot to a different item/partition:
set uefi bootnext 0x7449
exec <your path to>\bootnowu.exe <name of your boot item>
