Mouse support hasn't changed since 2011, and even that was a minor
change so it's related to something else. The older versions may use a
different video setting, check the video mode.

I reinstalled v1.65 with 1024 x 768 64k and the mouse works as well as it ever did (meaning it locks up often enough to make it useless). Fortunately the touchpad works perfectly again. I used the display editor to try 256 colors and everything still worked. Can't explain it.
