BIBM Partition Copy Operation Fails

Hello,

I'm working on getting my main hard drive (boots and has multiple OS builds) duplicated and cleaned-up a little to a new SSD. I have just downloaded the latest version and updated BIBM, as of 02/28/2019.

The main error I get is:

"The copy operation failed.
(Type:7, Error:4)"

I get the error when I try to copy a partition from:
Old drive to an empty space and rename on the same drive
Old drive to an empty space on the new drive
I have fully scanned both the new drive and the old drive for any defects, all negative, not a single bad sector logged
I have run chkdsk /f on the partition that I want to copy
It's a Win7x64 NTFS partition, fwiw.

I am able to copy the old hard drive to the new hard drive, with Image for DOS from the installation of BIBM.

I then can boot from the new drive, just the same as the old drive. But, I also get the exact same errors and cannot copy partitions within BIBM from the new drive, to any empty space on another drive.

Always getting the:
"The copy operation failed.
(Type:7, Error:4)"

I'm running an older FX-8350 CPU on an M5A97MoBo. Newer 4TB WD Blues for Data. The boot drives are a newer WD 1TB Blue as well a brand new Inland Pro 1TB SSD.

Ultimately, I can't copy a partition from either drive (the old original, or the new copy) to either empty space on the drive itself, or to empty space on the other drive. The space is sufficient in either case, with 100+GB to spare.

Cheers

Similar, but not the same, thread.

Thanks for that, Brian.

I had seen that suggestion before. Ran chkdsk on both drives. Ran HDD Regenerator on both drivers. Neither found any errors. One drive is newer, less than 2yrs, the other is brand new. I'm ASSUMING :) that it's not a hardware problem with the drives. Of course, it could be. If hardware, I think it could be something not working so well with my actual MoBo controller and how BIBM and the controller have interacted and functioned with the original hard drive. I copied using Image for Dos from BIBM and everything copied fine, and exactly enough where there's the same difficulty in copying partitions :)

I certainly can run a WD Diagz on it, and look for whatever the SDD manufacturer has.

Cheers.

Go Essendon! (except for the cheating stuff...LOL, though I don't know how that's sorted out)

The answer to my problem is to change to BIOS Direct.

Got the answer straight from Tech Support. It doesn't work every single time, and for me, between actions I had to reboot, but it works.

Copy or Move a partition
Reboot
Copy or Move another partition
Reboot
Resize a partition
Reboot
etc.
