I wonder what happened here?

One of my Linux distros is openSUSE Leap 15. I also have Tumbleweed
that does not have the issue here.
I have been used to openSUSE (since v11, when I started using it)
overwriting BIBM when grub updates. A quick reinstall of BIBM returns
everything to normal.
Running a recent update, when I got to reinstalling BIBM, the
installer behaved as if it were a new install, asking about limiting
primary partitions.
On entering maintenance mode, no other partition other than Leap 15
was visible. I don't know what happened this time, but I had to run a
restore.
I have asked for information on the openSUSE forum, but as is
typically my luck, the only people replying have not had the issue.
I will have to remove Leap 15 unless I can find out what is going on.
Any ideas?
