BootNow UEFI

I have set up a task in Windows 10 Task Scheduler to run BootNow (bootnowu.exe) in order to run a tbs script to image a disk.
When the task is run a dialog box appears from BootNow UEFI which states it is 'unable to configure system!'.

Is anyone aware of what causes this problem and what can be done to fix it?

I have a attached an image of the action tab of the Task scheduler and the resulting dialog box

Thanks in anticipation - Robert

Robert,

In Task Scheduler, do you have a tick in "Run with highest privileges"?

Does BootNow show the same error if you run it directly from a command prompt? Just reboot, no script?

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the reply and suggestion :)

When Bootnow (bootnowu.exe) was run from the command prompt using the /shutdown parameter the same dialog box appeared.
(Out of interest running BootNow with invalid or no parameters displays the parameters dialog box)

The command prompt was run with administrator privileges.

BIU is installed?

Win10 is the x64 version?

If so, the message would indicate that windows can't set the UEFI variables.

Thanks for the reply.

Bootit UEFI 1.04 is installed together with Image for UEFI (GUI) 3.22
I am running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit Version 1803 OS Build 17134.285

(Bootnowu was also given administrator privileges via the properties dialog box)

Do I assume that Bootnowu can't run in the x64 environment ?

Robert,

Try this test. Open TBOSDT Pro and enter...

list uefi bootitems

What do you see? Then try...

list uefi bootorder

Hi Brian,

list uefi bootitems produces:

0) 0x0000 Windows Boot Manager
1) 0x0001 UEFI OS
2) 0x0002 UEFI:CD\DVD Drive
3) 0x0003 UEFI:Removable Device
4) 0x0004 UEFI:Network Device
5) 0x7449 Bootit UEFI
6) 0xDFDF EFI system partition

list uefi bootorder produces:

0) 0x7449 Bootit UEFI
1) 0x0000 Windows Boot Manager
2) 0x0001 UEFI OS
3) 0xDFDF EFI system partition
4) 0x0002 UEFI:CD\DVD Drive
5) 0x0003 UEFI:Removable Device
6) 0x0004 UEFI:Network Device

Hope this helps - Robert
