Error - Unable to Copy file BOOTITBM

I have BootIt Bare Metal version 1.03 successfully installed on my computer and I want to upgrade the program to the latest version of Bare Metal (version 1.07).
I downloaded the package "BootIt Bare Metal (GUI), V1.07" from the file download area for registered users.

I ran MAKEDISK.EXE to create the BootIt bootable flopppy disk.

When I booted to this disk, the BootIt setup program started and I selected the option to upgrade my software.
After specifying that I wanted to manually select the BootIt installation partition, I was placed at the "Work with Partitions" screen.
The file BBM_CONFIG.jpg, which is attached to this forum message, shows the contents of my partitions screen.

Next, I manually selected the "BOOTIT" partition as the install location and clicked SETUP.
After a moment, the error message "Unable to copy file BOOTITBM" was displayed (see attached file BBM_ERROR_MESSAGE.jpg)
I rebooted the computer and used my version 1.03 floppy disk to reinstall the BootIt software.
I got no error messages from the version 1.03 reinstall, and the system was working properly again.

To rule out the possibliity of a bad floppy disk, I created a second floppy disk for the version 1.07 install with MAKEDISK.EXE and repeated all of the steps listed above, and got the same error message when I ran the new floppy disk.
Has anyone seen this error?

I don't know anything about the cause of the error, but I do note that there is not usually any reason to manually select the partition when upgrading the version.

You could try letting setup select the partition. That it would work is probably a long shot and if it did the question of the cause of the error when manually selecting the partition would remain.

Another long shot might be to download the program again just in case you somehow got a corrupted version.

see if you can copy it via diskcopy to another diskette, or create a boot cd
or UFD instead (typically if using a floppy drive you can just listen to it
to tell if there is a read error). Run chkdsk /f on the target partition if
possible.

My problem is solved.

I created a bootable CDROM with BootIt version 1.07 and the upgrade install worked perfectly.
The install worked whether I choose the BootIt partition manually or whether I let the program choose it for me.

Before this, I did try to install from floppy, letting BootIt select the install partition, however this failed with the same error I have been seeing.

I did discover one odd occurrence involving the BootIt install floppy.
Right after I created the floppy using MAKEDISK, from Windows 7, I right-clicked A: drive and selected Properties -> Tools tab -> Error Checking -> "CHECK NOW".
The CHKDSK /F found no errors on the floppy (see attachment BBM_VERIFY_AFTER_FORMAT.jpg)

I rebooted the computer and tried to install BootIt from the floppy and the install failed with the "Unable to copy BOOTITBM" error, as expected.
After getting back to the Windows 7 desktop, I ran another CHKDSK /F on the BootIt floppy and this time got errors (see attachment BBM_VERIFY_SECOND_TIME.jpg)
It appears that something got written out to the floppy disk when I tried to install BootIt from it.
This error is repeatable.

I'm going to stop working on this and just use bootable CDs. I really need to stop using that floppy drive anyway.

Thank you for your help.
