USB boot drive issue for GPT system.

Post by DrTeeth »

When using IfL, I create an ISO and then use RUFUS to make a bootable
flash drive with either an MBR or GPT layout as needed.

I tried to do the same thing with BIBM, so I can use the drive
convertion script. RUFUS will not create a bootable drive saying that
the BIBM ISO is either not bootable or used an incompatible
compression scheme.

Do I have to change the BIOS to "legacy" first? I find it strange that
what I can do with IfL I cannot with BIBM.

luca.rings,

Are you using the Win10 1803 ISO?

Are you using Rufus 3.1? Ver 2 doesn't work with 1803 ISO.

DrT,

Do you have trouble making an IFL UFD from Makedisk? That UFD will boot in MBR and UEFI mode. No need for two UFDs.

Use the default settings of....

Partition - MBR FAT/FAT32 Partition
Default - Use Device

I have no trouble using makedisk. I just started to use the same ISO
and make whichever flash drive I needed "to order". I'll give that a
try, thanks.

Just making one, and the default USB layout here is "No Partition -
FAT/FAT32 Volume".

It is strange that I could not use the BIBM ISO to make a flash drive.
