BIBM 5.0 makedisk issues

Post by mashedmitten »

Saw the post about subscriptions expiring so I decided to check my install and noticed I was on 1.40. I downloaded the latest version, but 1) it refuses to recognize a blank disc, spits no errors and the program hangs, and 2) when I use a USB stick (multiple, even one that had IFL) it says all's good, but I get a black screen when I boot from the sticks. I've downloaded 3 separate times, unblocking and running as Admin with no joy. I've never had an issue before and I've made a few discs over time. As to disks, I've used the same batch as worked every other time and the drive had IFL so...?

Got a CD R/W to 'successfully' burn, but it boots to a black screen, also.

I honestly feel TeraByte should give me the upgrade, just for all the disks I've wasted during the time I've used the software. I know frogs have a better chance of growing pillows from their hind parts to prevent the bruising, but there it is.

Perhaps you need to choose a different video mode.

Video is the first thing I checked, thanks for the suggestion though. Seems the setting I've always used no longer works. I triple-checked and it's borne out by the fact I made so many attempts that I couldn't have made the error repeatedly. The only thing it could be with the system is that I applied all of the Spectre/Meltdown fixes from BIOS to drivers so maybe something changed. Doesn't seem to be anything major with the update and I still have 1.40 archived so I'll hop back to it. Slow redraws kill my soul.

if you have 1.4 installed the video hasn't changed. So you can look in
bootitbm.ini to see what video settings are used (mode and method).
