BOOTIT UEFI V1.01

Post by tas3086 »

Installed Fine :D
Starts fine :D
Mouse works :D
No Boot items in screen :?:
Direct Boot did not select anything
Maintenance mode to create boot list generated error message: :(
. UNABLE TO FIND BOOTIT.DAT
. Start Image Returned Aborted
system rebooted - but did not hang !!

Late Addition: It should be noted that I tried the Direct i/o and the non-version. In both cases the file was not found.

Did not select anything means? It will show list of the uefi boot items
(to show hidden items have to enable that option). When selected to boot,
the system must support boot next, or it won't do anything but reboot
normally (I know the surface pro 4 lacks that support).

What maintenance mode option to create boot list? Boot Edit?

As far as the file not found, that means the system UEFI based file system
may not be able to handle reestablishing itself after unlocked. Is it an
older version/computer? The rename safe option being disabled won't have
to lock anything in normal course of action, but you have to ensure you can
rename dirs using uefi safely, you can test via tbosdt on the local file
system, launch it, run md test, then ren test test.001, dir and see if
test.001 exists, then you can rd test.001, exit to return. You can edit
bootit.ini as desired.

The DEFAULT.BUM file with the boot menu will have boot items created as
needed, if they were showing in v1.00, how did you upgrade to 1.01? does
that file exist? Does it contain items? They show in "boot edit" ?

It showed the normal selection box, bit it had no items in it.
(I wish BBcode were on so I could make my responses a different color and easier for you to read)

Never had any problems with Legacy BIBM

When BIU starts I get the normal Boot selection screen, which is empty, and the 3 buttons at the bottom: boot, Maintenance, and Direct
I press maintenance and get the error stated above. Pressing boot or direct does nothing as there is nothing in the list.
I would like to get to the Maintenance mode so I could edit a new boot list !

Version 1.00 was only capable of being installed when my ssd was removed from the system and connected to a usb/sata adapter. (see previous posts)
Booting the 1.01 install disk allowed me to upgrade my now computer installed ssd. successfully. But now a new error above.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Additional information: Booting off the BIU(1.01) install pen drive, and going into its Maintenance mode, I was able to use the script option to copy the BOOTIT.dat file to all directories: root, efi, efi/boot .
I also ran the TBEXPLO.tbs script to look at all drives on my system. It showed that the bootit.dat file existed all the BUI partition directories.
So everything on the BIU install pen drive seems to be working fine.
rebooted to the BUI ssd hard drive.
same error. File not found.

As mentioned, that is because the UEFI is not able to properly remount the
file system (it's more common with older UEFI systems). But, if your UEFI
can support renaming dirs okay, you can enable the UEFIRenDirSafe via
editing bootit.ini on disk. Then it won't need to dismount it, until you do
some partition work operations on it.

added UEFIRenDirSafe=1 to the ini file. It appears to be working fine. Now to get windows 10 working.
Thanks
