HyperX Savage SSD noise

Post by DrTeeth »

If anybody has one of these SSD and Win 7 (later versions could help
too) please could you do me a favour? Please run 'chkdsk /f' so it
runs on the next boot. When the PC boots, can you hear it making a
noise? I have two (one as replacement) and both made the same noise.
As they otherwise worked well and were 99.9% silent, I decided to keep
mine. It may be interesting to check other SSDs too.

The noise was not loud at all, but noticeable. It was like a quiet
two-tone siren, each tone alternates every second or two. Running
chkdsk /f on Win XP did not have this issue.

BTW, don't expect to be blown away by the system performance if you
get an SSD if you keep your HDs well defragged. Yes, disk activities
are faster, but not so much that I am likely to buy another in the
foreseeable future.
