Win10 install

My PC has 3 hdd's installed with 4 different OS installed. HD 0 has XP, win 7 32 and win 7 64 installed all running ok. I wish to upgrade win 7 32 to win10 using upgrade route. Each time I try it fails with error code 8007001F. Searching on line suggests the cause may be multiple drives or partitions. Any suggestions as to how to get round this?

Tim, which method are you using to upgrade to Win10?

Are you using unlimited primaries with BIBM?

At the moment I am trying to upgrade using the windows update. This is to enable me to roll back to W7 should I so choose, not an option that is available if you upgrade from DVD. I am trying to upgrade W7 32bit to try it before considering upgrading my 64 bit W7, which I currently use most of the time.
Primary's are currently limited.

When I tried to upgrade to Win10 every method failed except running setup.exe from a UFD. That's the only method I use now as it always works. If I wanted to return to a previous OS I'd restore an image.

If you get a current version of the Win 10 ISO, it will install *with*
your current Win 7 serial number. I would not update a Windows install
and take the opportunity to have a clean install.

Your problem is likely to be the limited primaries. Your first HD has
3 OSs and I assume BIBM installed...that is 4 primary partitions. Win
10 *may* want to create a temp partition during install.

I have changed the option for primary limit, so far with no benefit. I may have to delete XP (which I no longer really use anyway) to create further disc space and reduce the number of primaries. I have spoken to my equipment supplier who says there is a possibility my MB may not be compatible with W10, although the microsoft verifying tool says all is OK.

Tim,

I had over 10 primary partitions on HD0 when I upgraded to Win10 but as I mentioned, running setup.exe from a UFD was the only method that worked. You can rollback to the previous Windows if you use this method. You get the same result as a Windows Update upgrade.
