Finding external SATA hard drives

I have 4 SATA external hard drives in an ICY Dock hard drive enclosure attached to a Silicon Image Sil3132 Integrated Host Controller on the motherboard. The hard drives are all formatted as GPT drives and serve as backups to the partitons of the 3 MBR hard drives inside the computer. When the ICY Dock enclosure is turned on, all the hard drives are powered up.

I am using BIBM with the Limited Primary Partitions optioned turned on so I can also manipulate my partitons with external software without problems.

Normally the hard drives are only powered up when I want to backup my partitions via a bootup CD, where only the in-memory software of the bootup CD is running and none of the OSs on my multi-boot computer have been booted into. Both GParted bootup disk ( actually PartedMagic with GParted ) and the Minitools Partition Wizard bootup disk will show my external hard drives for backup purposed when I boot either of those disks for the sake of doing backups. So I have no problems backing up my hard drive partitions with either of these tools.

But when I have my external hard drive enclosure powered on and boot into BIBM installed on my hard disk, BIBM does not see any of these external hard drives. Maybe I am greedy but it sure would be nice if BIBM was able to see these external hard drives for the purpose of using them for backups with BIBM. Is there some setting that might work which would enable BIBM to see and use these backup hard drives ?

BIBM is only going to see the drives the BIOS provides access to. So check
the BIOS settings to see if it detects the drives. You can use Image for
Linux for backups if that's what you want since it doesn't use the BIOS.
