All projects under World Community Grid are administered by researchers who work for public or non-profit organizations.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"w-separator size_small\"><\/div><div class=\"g-cols wpb_row compcon-box2 via_flex valign_top type_default stacking_default\"><div class=\"vc_col-sm-12 wpb_column vc_column_container\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><div class=\"wpb_text_column\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><div class=\"wrap3\">\n<h4 class=\"bluetext\"><a name=\"WCGRID03\"><\/a>Software<\/h4>\n<p>One of the important considerations when participating in a distributed computing project is which software to use. While the software the World Community Grid offers can be used, you may want to look into using the <a href=\"https:\/\/boinc.berkeley.edu\/\">BOINC client<\/a> which currently offers more user control (processing options, logging, etc.) and the ability to join other distributed computing projects. The BOINC client:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Is open source software, distributed under the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gnu.org\/copyleft\/lesser.html\">Lesser GNU Public License<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Uses digital signatures and public-key encryption to help prevent the client software from being abused.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"w-separator size_small\"><\/div><div class=\"g-cols wpb_row compcon-box2 via_flex valign_top type_default stacking_default\"><div class=\"vc_col-sm-12 wpb_column vc_column_container\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><div class=\"wpb_text_column\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><h4 class=\"bluetext\">How to Join and Setup the BOINC Client.<\/h4>\n<p>This is a simple process:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Create a World Community Grid account <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldcommunitygrid.org\/reg\/viewRegister.do?platform=all\">here<\/a> and click the &#8220;select&#8230;&#8221; link to join the &#8220;TeraByte&#8221; team.If you forget to join the TeraByte team, you can join any time by following the instructions given <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldcommunitygrid.org\/help\/viewTopic.do?shortName=teams#121\">here<\/a>. By Joining the team, you&#8217;re helping TeraByte know that it&#8217;s making a difference.<\/li>\n<li>Once signed up via the link above, you&#8217;ll be taken to a page where you can download and install the BOINC agent. You can also download it directly from <a href=\"https:\/\/boinc.berkeley.edu\/download.php\">here<\/a>. Instructions for installing BOINC can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/secure.worldcommunitygrid.org\/ms\/viewThankYouBoincWin.do\">here<\/a> for Windows, and <a href=\"https:\/\/secure.worldcommunitygrid.org\/ms\/viewThankYouBoinc.do\">here<\/a> for Linux.<em>During the installation of BOINC, you will be prompted to provide your World Community Grid account information.
