You can try to correct this issue as follows:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li>Some BIOS brands and versions will not automatically detect the mode properly, so you can try setting the PIO mode in the BIOS as appropriate (and nowadays, mode <strong>4<\/strong> would be your choice).<br \/>\r\n<br \/>\r\n<\/li>\r\n\t<li>Some BIOS brands and versions\u00a0support <strong>UDMA<\/strong> directly. If such a setting is\u00a0available in your BIOS, try enabling it.<br \/>\r\n<br \/>\r\n<\/li>\r\n\t<li>Ensure that you are using\u00a0an 80-conductor IDE cable, where applicable.<br \/>\r\n<br \/>\r\n<\/li>\r\n\t<li>Consider using the third-party <strong>DOS UDMA Driver<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.terabyteunlimited.com\/third-party-freeware\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">available here<\/a>, with the understanding that it is not officially supported and is to be used at your own risk.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Assuming the drive itself is not slow, this problem is usually caused by the system BIOS.
