For example, access is denied when trying to delete image files in the folder.<\/p>\r\n  <p><strong><font color=\"#ff5500\">Cause:<\/font><\/strong> <\/p>\r\n  <p>The TeraByte ProtectIt service is installed and prevents normal access to the backup images saved in the folder.<\/p>\r\n  <p><strong><font color=\"#ff5500\">Solution:<\/font><\/strong><\/p>\r\n  <p>There are several methods available to manually manage the contents of the TeraByte_TBI_Backups folder. Keep in mind that Image for Windows automatically manages the image files in the folder and manual management is not normally required.<\/p>\r\n  <p><font color=\"#005858\"><strong>Using Image for Windows<\/strong><\/font><\/p>\r\n  <p>Image for Windows can be used to delete images and associated files in the TeraByte_TBI_Backups folder.<\/p>\r\n  <p><font color=\"#666666\"><strong>Using Simple Operations Mode<\/strong><\/font><\/p>\r\n  <ol>\r\n    <li>Run Image for Windows.<br \/>\r\n      <br \/>\r\n      <\/li>\r\n    <li>Click the <strong>Settings<\/strong> button. On the General tab, Simple Operations section, make sure the <strong>Allow file deletion on Restore &amp; Validate file list<\/strong> option is enabled.<br \/>\r\n      <br \/>\r\n      <\/li>\r\n    <li>From the main Image for Windows screen, use either the <strong>Restore<\/strong> or <strong>Validate<\/strong> option.<br \/>\r\n      <br \/>\r\n      <\/li>\r\n    <li>Right-click on the desired backup and select the <strong>Delete<\/strong> option from the pop-up menu. A confirmation window will be displayed showing which files will be deleted.<\/li>\r\n  <\/ol>\r\n  <p><font color=\"#666666\"><strong>Using Normal Mode<\/strong><\/font><\/p>\r\n  <ol>\r\n    <li>Run Image for Windows.<br \/>\r\n      <br \/>\r\n    <\/li>\r\n    <li>From the main Image for Windows screen, use either the <strong>Restore<\/strong> or <strong>Validate<\/strong> option.<br \/>\r\n      <br \/>\r\n    <\/li>\r\n    <li>Browse to the TeraByte_TBI_Backups folder and then down it to reach the desired image files.<br \/>\r\n      <br \/>\r\n    <\/li>\r\n    <li>Right-click on an image file and select the <strong>Delete<\/strong> option from the pop-up menu. A confirmation window will be displayed showing which files will be deleted.<\/li>\r\n  <\/ol>\r\n  <p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n  <p><font color=\"#005858\"><strong>Using TBOSDT<\/strong><\/font><\/p>\r\n  <p>TBOSDT run as an administrator has permission to access and make changes to the files in the TeraByte_TBI_Backups folder. Being familiar with command line operations and TBOSDT is recommended.<\/p>\r\n  <p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n  <p><font color=\"#005858\"><strong>Manual Method<\/strong><\/font><\/p>\r\n  <p>If you would like to manage the contents of the TeraByte_TBI_Backups folder using normal Windows utilities (such as File Explorer), this can be accomplished by manually disabling ProtectIt.<\/p>\r\n  <ol>\r\n    <li>Exit Image for Windows if it is running.<br \/>\r\n      <br \/>\r\n    <\/li>\r\n    <li>Run an administrator Command Prompt.<br \/>\r\n      <br \/>\r\n    <\/li>\r\n    <li>Run the following command to disable ProtectIt:<br \/>\r\n      <font color=\"#008800\" face=\"Courier New, Courier, monospace\"><strong>net stop protectit<\/strong><\/font>\r\n      <br \/>\r\n      <br \/>\r\n    <\/li>\r\n    <li>Use File Explorer or other desired utility to manage the contents of the folder.<br \/>\r\n      <br \/>\r\n    <\/li>\r\n    <li>When finished, enable ProtectIt by running the following command:<br \/>\r\n      <font color=\"#008800\" face=\"Courier New, Courier, monospace\"><strong>net start protectit<\/strong><\/font><\/li>\r\n  <\/ol>\r\n  <p><strong>Note:<\/strong> The <font color=\"#008800\" face=\"Courier New, Courier, monospace\"><strong>sc<\/strong><\/font> command can be used instead of <font color=\"#008800\" face=\"Courier New, Courier, monospace\"><strong>net<\/strong><\/font>. However, keep in mind that it runs asynchronously (you may need to check if the action has completed before continuing). For example: <font color=\"#008800\" face=\"Courier New, Courier, monospace\"><strong>sc stop protectit<\/strong><\/font>, manage the contents of the folder, <font color=\"#008800\" face=\"Courier New, Courier, monospace\"><strong>sc start protectit<\/strong><\/font><\/p>\r\n  <p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n  <p><font color=\"#005858\"><strong>Disabling\/Enabling ProtectIt on a Remote System<\/strong><\/font><\/p>\r\n  <p>If you are accessing a system remotely and need to manage the TeraByte_TBI_Backups folder, in addition to using an administrator account on the remote system, the following steps will need to be performed to allow starting and stopping the ProtectIt service.<\/p>\r\n  <ol>\r\n    <li>Run the Registry Editor on the remote system.<br \/>\r\n      <br \/>\r\n    <\/li>\r\n    <li>Browse to the following location:<br \/> <font color=\"#008800\" face=\"Courier New, Courier, monospace\"><strong>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE&#92;SOFTWARE&#92;Microsoft&#92;Windows&#92;<br \/>\r\n      CurrentVersion&#92;Policies&#92;System<\/strong><\/font><br \/>\r\n      <br \/>\r\n    <\/li>\r\n    <li>Make sure <font color=\"#008800\" face=\"Courier New, Courier, monospace\"><strong>System<\/strong><\/font> is selected.<br \/>\r\n      <br \/>\r\n    <\/li>\r\n    <li>Right-click in an empty area of the right side where the registry entries are displayed and select <strong>New<\/strong> from the menu (or click the <strong>Edit<\/strong> menu and select <strong>New<\/strong>).<br \/>\r\n      <br \/>\r\n    <\/li>\r\n    <li>From the <strong>New<\/strong> menu, select the <strong>DWORD (32-bit) Value<\/strong> option.<br \/>\r\n      <br \/>\r\n    <\/li>\r\n    <li>Enter <strong>LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy<\/strong> for the name.<br \/>\r\n      <br \/>\r\n    <\/li>\r\n    <li>Double-click the <strong>LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy<\/strong> entry you just created to open it.<br \/>\r\n      <br \/>\r\n    <\/li>\r\n    <li>Enter <strong>1<\/strong> into the <strong>Value data<\/strong> box and then click <strong>OK<\/strong> to close the dialog.<br \/>\r\n      <br \/>\r\n    <\/li>\r\n    <li>If already connected to the remote system, you will need to log off the connection and log back in to use the new policy setting.<\/li>\r\n  <\/ol>\r\n  <p>If necessary, refer to the following Microsoft article for more information: <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/help\/951016\/description-of-user-account-control-and-remote-restrictions-in-windows\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Description of User Account Control and remote restrictions in Windows Vista<\/a><\/p>\r\n  <p>&nbsp;<\/p>  \r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Problem: User is unable to manage the image backups (or other files) saved in the TeraByte_TBI_Backups folder.
