When the user attempts to copy additional files it fails.<\/p>\r\n  <p><strong><font color=\"#ff5500\">Cause:<\/font><\/strong><\/p>\r\n  <p>Windows 8 is aggressive in powering off USB devices.<\/p>\r\n  <p><strong><font color=\"#ff5500\">Solution:<\/font><\/strong><\/p>\r\n  <p>Disable allowing the computer to turn off the USB Hub devices to save power. <\/p>\r\n  <p><strong>Instructions:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n  <ol>\r\n    <li>Press <strong>WinKey+X<\/strong> (hold down the <strong>Windows key<\/strong> and press <strong>X<\/strong>) to bring up the Quick Link menu.<br \/><br \/><\/li>\r\n    <li>Click on <strong>Device Manager<\/strong>.<br \/><br \/><\/li>\r\n    <li>Scroll to the <strong>Universal Serial Bus Controllers<\/strong> section and expand it.<br \/><br \/><\/li>\r\n    <li>Locate the USB Hub items. The names will vary depending on the system, but will generally have &quot;USB Hub&quot; or &quot;USB Root Hub&quot; in them. Examples include <em>Generic USB Hub<\/em>, <em>USB Root Hub<\/em>, and <em>USB Root Hub (xHCI)<\/em>.<br \/><br \/><\/li>\r\n    <li>Double-click the item (or right-click it and select <strong>Properties<\/strong> from the pop-up menu) to open the item's properties.<br \/><br \/><\/li>\r\n    <li>Click the<strong> Power Management<\/strong> tab.<br \/><br \/><\/li>\r\n    <li>Uncheck the <strong>Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power<\/strong> option. <br \/><br \/><\/li>\r\n    <li>Click <strong>OK<\/strong> to apply the change. <br \/><br \/><\/li>\r\n    <li>Repeat steps 5 through 8 for each USB Hub device you need to change. <br \/><br \/><\/li>\r\n    <li>Close <em>Device Manager<\/em>.<\/li>\r\n  <\/ol><hr \/>\r\n  <p><strong><font color=\"#ff5500\">Technical Notes:<\/font><\/strong><\/p>\r\n  <p>Depending on the system, disabling the &quot;power off&quot; option may increase system power usage. If you don't want to disable the option for all hub devices you may need to do some testing to figure out which one is used by the affected USB drive. <\/p>\r\n  <p>Disabling the <strong>USB selective suspend <\/strong>setting in <em>Power Options<\/em> will usually not disable the &quot;power off&quot; option for all USB Hub devices.
