Here are just a couple&nbsp;examples of how the option to send keystrokes with a boot menu item can be helpful:<\/p>\r\n  <ul>\r\n    <li>You can have the boot menu item send the F8 key. This will automatically enter the <em>Windows Advanced Options<\/em> menu, where the <strong>Safe Mode<\/strong>, <strong>Last Known Good Configuration<\/strong>, and other advanced boot options are listed. <br \/><br \/><\/li>\r\n    <li>You can have a batch file automatically run, if booting into DOS, by having the name of the batch file typed out for you, and having the <strong>Enter<\/strong> key sent automatically.<br \/><\/li>\r\n  <\/ul>\r\n  <p>For Windows, note that the keystrokes may not carry past the boot loader.<br \/><\/p>\r\n  <p><strong><font color=\"#005858\">To configure a boot menu item to send keystrokes, proceed as follows:<\/font><\/strong><\/p>\r\n  <ol>\r\n    <li>For general information on how to add and configure boot menu items, please refer to the article <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.terabyteunlimited.com\/kb\/?p=496\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">How to Add and Configure Boot Menu Items in BootIt BM<\/a><\/strong>.&nbsp;On the <strong>Add Menu Item<\/strong> or <strong>Edit Menu Item<\/strong> window, click the <strong>Input<\/strong> button in the <strong>Keystrokes<\/strong> section. The <strong>Keystrokes<\/strong> dialog appears.<br \/><br \/><\/li>\r\n    <li>Enter the appropriate keystrokes, in succession, and up to a total of 15. These keystrokes will be bufferred and carried forward when you select this boot menu item, with the exact same effect as if you had entered them manually at that time.<br \/><br \/><\/li>\r\n    <li>When you are done entering the keystrokes to be sent, press<strong> both<\/strong> <strong>Shift<\/strong> keys at once to exit the <strong>Keystrokes<\/strong> dialog.<br \/><br \/><\/li>\r\n    <li>Click <strong>OK<\/strong> on the <strong>Add Menu Item<\/strong> or <strong>Edit Menu Item<\/strong> window.<br \/><br \/><\/li>\r\n    <li>Click <strong>OK<\/strong> on the <strong>Boot Menu<\/strong> window when you are done configuring boot menu items. <\/li>\r\n  <\/ol>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This article will explain how to configure a BootIt BM boot menu item to send keystrokes during the boot process.
