This feature can be helpful under certain circumstances, such as when booting DOS from a non-HD0 drive. This article will explain how to enable the swap option when creating or editing boot menu items.<\/p>\r\n  <ol>\r\n    <li>Boot into BootIt BM. When the <strong>Boot Menu<\/strong> appears, click the <strong>Maintenance<\/strong> button. (<strong>Note:<\/strong> If the IT Mode option is enabled, you will need to hold down the <strong>Insert<\/strong> or <strong>right Ctrl<\/strong> key to access BootIt BM.) <br \/><br \/><\/li>\r\n    <li>On the BootIt BM desktop, click <strong>Boot Edit<\/strong>. The<strong> Boot Menu<\/strong> dialog appears. <br \/><br \/><\/li>\r\n    <li>At this point, you have a choice: <br \/><br \/>\r\n      <ul type=\"disc\">\r\n        <li>If you wish to add a new boot menu item and enable the swap option for it, click the <strong>Add<\/strong> button. The <strong>Add Menu Item <\/strong>dialog appears. <br \/><br \/><\/li>\r\n        <li>If there is a preexisting boot menu item for which you wish to enable the swap option, select it and click the <strong>Edit<\/strong> button. The <strong>Edit Menu Item<\/strong> dialog appears. <br \/><br \/><\/li>\r\n      <\/ul>\r\n    <\/li>\r\n    <li>On the<strong> Add Menu Item<\/strong> or <strong>Edit Menu Item<\/strong> dialog, select the <strong>Swap<\/strong> option under the <strong>Boot Details<\/strong> section <em>if you want the swap option to be permanent<\/em>, or under the <strong>One Time Option<\/strong> section <em>if you want the swap option to be used <u>only<\/u> the next time the boot item is used<\/em>. <br \/><br \/>\r\n      <ul type=\"disc\">\r\n        <li>If you are adding a new boot menu item, you will also need to configure the appropriate boot item parameters.<br \/><br \/><\/li>\r\n        <li><strong>Note:<\/strong> On some systems it will be necessary to enable the <strong>Fix Swap<\/strong> option (in BootIt BM settings) in order for swapping to work. Most newer systems require this.<\/li>\r\n      <\/ul>\r\n    <\/li>\r\n    <li>Click <strong>OK<\/strong> on the <strong>Add Menu Item<\/strong> or<strong> Edit Menu Item<\/strong> dialog. <br \/><br \/><\/li>\r\n    <li>Click <strong>OK<\/strong> on the<strong> Boot Menu<\/strong> dialog to save the changes and return to the BootIt BM desktop, or click <strong>Cancel<\/strong> to return to the BootIt BM desktop without saving any changes. <\/li>\r\n  <\/ol>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BootIt BM offers a feature which can logically swap the boot drive to make it appear to the system as the first hard drive (i.e. HD0).
