The image file is typically located on a network path. <\/p>\r\n  <p>The following error message is reported by Image for Windows: <font color=\"#ff0000\">Unable to read data from file<\/font><\/p>\r\n  <p><strong><font color=\"#ff5500\">Cause:<\/font><\/strong> <\/p>\r\n  <p>Multiple issues can cause this problem, including:<\/p>\r\n  <ul type=\"disc\">\r\n    <li>Network interface (driver &gt; NIC &gt; Cable &gt; Switch\/Hub &gt; Cable &gt; NIC &gt; Driver) <\/li>\r\n    <li>Permissions incorrect <\/li>\r\n    <li>Antivirus program <\/li>\r\n    <li>Insufficient system resources or not enough server storage available <\/li>\r\n  <\/ul>\r\n  <p><strong><font color=\"#ff5500\">Solution:<\/font><\/strong><\/p>\r\n  <p><font color=\"#005858\"><strong>Network interface:<\/strong><\/font> Verify that all networking components are working correctly. There are cases where light loads work just fine, but heavy loads fail. Check cables, firmware revisions, driver updates, etc. Backing up to (or validating from) another location may help pinpoint the problem.<\/p>\r\n  <p><font color=\"#005858\"><strong>Permissions incorrect:<\/strong><\/font> Verify that permissions are set correctly to allow access to the image file location. Note that while incorrect permissions may cause this problem, usually they result in other errors (e.g. <em>invalid image file<\/em>).<\/p>\r\n  <p><font color=\"#005858\"><strong>Antivirus program:<\/strong><\/font> Antivirus programs and similar security programs can interrupt processing and result in an error. Exclude <strong>.TBI<\/strong> files from being scanned.<\/p>\r\n  <p><font color=\"#005858\"><strong>Insufficient system resources or not enough server storage available:<\/strong><\/font> This may occur on certain Windows Server systems, including Windows Server 2003, Windows 2000 Server, and Windows NT Server 4.0.
