{"id":401,"date":"2010-02-19T06:28:00","date_gmt":"2010-02-19T14:28:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kb.terabyteunlimited.com\/kb-articles\/phylock-waiting-issue-with-gigabytes-gest-service\/"},"modified":"2021-09-07T15:05:27","modified_gmt":"2021-09-07T22:05:27","slug":"phylock-waiting-issue-with-gigabytes-gest-service","status":"publish","type":"lsvr_kba","link":"https:\/\/www.terabyteunlimited.com\/kb\/kb-articles\/phylock-waiting-issue-with-gigabytes-gest-service\/","title":{"rendered":"PHYLock &#8211; Waiting Issue with Gigabyte&#8217;s GEST Service"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><font color=\"#ff5500\">Problem:<\/font><\/strong> <\/p>\r\n  <p>PHYLock waits the entire timeout period when the service <strong>GEST Service<\/strong> is running.<\/p>\r\n  <p><strong><font color=\"#ff5500\">Cause:<\/font><\/strong> <\/p>\r\n  <p>Gigabyte's <strong>GEST Service<\/strong> prevents PHYLock from detecting an idle drive.<\/p>\r\n  <p><strong><font color=\"#ff5500\">Solution:<\/font><\/strong><\/p>\r\n  <p>Stop the service <strong>GEST Service<\/strong> and imaging should be able to start normally.<\/p>\r\n  <p>The service file for Gigabyte's &quot;Energy Saver&quot; utility (GEST), which is included with their motherboards, can usually be found in the following location:<br \/><font color=\"#ff0000\">C:&#92;Program Files&#92;GIGABYTE&#92;GEST&#92;GSvr.exe<\/font><\/p>\r\n  <p>The service name is <font color=\"#ff0000\">GEST Service<\/font>.<\/p>\r\n  <p>If you don't wish to disable or stop the GEST Service, you can try enabling the use of VSS (instead of PHYLock).
