{"id":366,"date":"2008-10-07T01:53:00","date_gmt":"2008-10-07T08:53:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kb.terabyteunlimited.com\/kb-articles\/what-to-do-when-setup-asks-to-replace-file-cdboot-f35\/"},"modified":"2021-09-06T23:09:27","modified_gmt":"2021-09-07T06:09:27","slug":"what-to-do-when-setup-asks-to-replace-file-cdboot-f35","status":"publish","type":"lsvr_kba","link":"https:\/\/www.terabyteunlimited.com\/kb\/kb-articles\/what-to-do-when-setup-asks-to-replace-file-cdboot-f35\/","title":{"rendered":"What to Do when Setup Asks to Replace File CDBOOT.F35"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\r\n<strong>Please note: <\/strong>This article applies to version 1 product(s) only. <br \/><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Most users should answer &quot;Yes&quot; when prompted to overwrite CDBOOT.F35\r\nduring Image for Windows setup.&nbsp; Doing so will ensure that you\r\nhave the latest version of the CDBOOT.F35 file.&nbsp; Having the latest\r\nversion of CDBOOT.F35 will allow you to create bootable CD\/DVD discs\r\nwhich in turn contain the latest version of Image for DOS.<br \/> <\/p>\r\n               \r\n<p>You will only want to reply &quot;No&quot; to the CDBOOT.F35 overwrite prompt\r\nif you are using your own customized version of CDBOOT.F35.&nbsp; (If\r\nyou are running a custom version of CDBOOT.F35, you would know about\r\nit, since you would have had to set it up manually.)<br \/> <\/p>\r\n           \r\n<p>If you are a registered user of Image for Windows, CDBOOT.F35 will\r\nautomatically be updated to a registered copy when either of the\r\nfollowing events takes place:<br \/> <\/p>\r\n           \r\n<ul>\r\n<li>You manually enter your Image for Windows registration information.<\/li><li>You use your registered copy of Image for Windows to create a bootable CD\/DVD disc.<br \/>   <\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n           \r\n<p>So, if you are a registered user of Image for Windows, you generally\r\ndo not have to worry about CDBOOT.F35.&nbsp; When upgrading to the\r\nlatest version of Image for Windows, just overwrite CDBOOT.F35 when\r\nprompted (in accordance with the advice above), and then use Image for\r\nWindows as you normally do.<br \/> <\/p>\r\n       \r\n<p>However, if you are a registered user of Image for Windows, do not\r\nnormally use Image for Windows to create bootable CD\/DVD discs, yet\r\nstill need a registered copy of CDBOOT.F35 for other purposes (e.g. for\r\nuse with BINGBURN), you will need to manually &quot;force&quot; your copy of\r\nCDBOOT.F35 to be become a registered copy.&nbsp; To do this, simply use\r\nImage for Windows to initiate a backup to CD\/DVD, and cancel the\r\noperation when Image for Windows prompts you to insert the first\r\ndisc.&nbsp; At that point,CDBOOT.F35 will have been converted to a full\r\nregistered copy.&nbsp;&nbsp; You will need to repeat this procedure\r\nwhenever you update Image for Windows and (assuming you also choose to\r\noverwrite CDBOOT.F35 during setup).<br \/> <\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Please note: This article applies to version 1 product(s) only.
