Error Message "Boot Disk Failure" On Startup

Problem: 

When attempting to boot, you receive the message:

BOOT DISK FAILURE

Cause: 

This issue can be caused by a number of circumstances:

  • The hard drive jumper(s) are configured as Master with Slave Present, but no slave is actually present on the IDE channel to which the drive is connected.

  • The hard drive has failed.

  • No active partitions are present.
Solution:
  • If the hard drive jumper(s) are configured as Master with Slave Present, but no slave is present on the IDE channel to which the drive is connected, correct the jumper configuration.

  • Run the drive manufacturer's utility on the drive, if possible.

  • If necessary, set the appropriate partition active using one of the following methods:
