BIBM always opens to Partition Work dialog box
BIBM always opens to Partition Work dialog box
BIBM won't boot to the normal boot menu. Won't boot to the direct boot menu. Always opens to the Partition Work dialog box. What's up with that?
Re: BIBM always opens to Partition Work dialog box
Bill,
When you made the disk you must have chosen Partition Work instead of Normal.

Re: BIBM always opens to Partition Work dialog box
At the time I created the disk I planned to keep the BING installation for awhile. Then I went ahead and installed BIBM. Do I have to uninstall it and reinstall it to be able to use the normal boot menu?

No/yes.
Just reinstall with the correct choices, and BIBM will overwrite itself.
Direction are included in the BIBM users manual. Follow directions found in pages
11-23.
For myself I choose; Select the Product to Build|BootIt Bare Metal {page 11 item 4},
and Select the Optional Components|Image for DOS(GUI) {page 12 item 6}, and Boot
Options(Normal){page 14} {THIS is where you need to fix your current choice}
Other choices are as you feel the need for your system & future needs.
Personally I haven't (yet) had the need to use IFD from within BIBM, but I figure
someday I'll wish I had included it, so I do.

Thanks. Fortunately the original CD I created was a RW. I believe if you purchased BIBM the install automatically included IFD, since you can't image without it.

Bill,

Nope, it's a choice during install as you'll see in the instructions.

Re: BIBM always opens to Partition Work dialog box
I created the install CD again and installed BIBM, but I am still booting to the Partition Work box. Any suggestions?

Did you pay attention to Brian's point quoted above? What did you select?Bill wrote:I created the install CD again and installed BIBM, but I am still booting to the Partition Work box. Any suggestions?

Bob,

Better yet is where I gave DETAILED instructions, yet he somehow
continues to get the wrong results.
Whenever I've changed/upgraded BiBM then reinstalled, the NEW has
always overwritten the CURRENT.
Try doing everything for creation of the disk under Administrator?
Right click on 'makedisk.exe' and select Run as....Administrator.

Re: BIBM always opens to Partition Work dialog box
I made the change correctly, but to get it to work I had to uninstall BIBM. It didn't overwrite. Then I used the very same CD without any changes to it to install again. I don't know why this would have made the difference, but after I uninstalled I had to make the MBR an EMBR. I also had to edit the default boot item, and I created a second one for my second OS.
Thanks for your guidance. I appreciate it.
