DO NOT HAVE Permission

Post by DELTA624826 »

I fully understand this ground has been covered. I do not understand any of the "solutions".

Opened TBIViewer in Windows 7. Opened TBI file, copied two files. Closed TBIViewer.
Created a new IMAGE (same external).

Unable to open TBI file. I do not have PERMISSION.

I go back to permission JUST FOR THAT FILE, redo permissions, and I can open the one file.
Permissions were CORRECT for entire volume and subdirectory.

WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?

What permissions are set for the folder?

What permissions were set for the image file?

Are you using IFD or IFL to create the backup?

Ok Paul. The Image that is accessed through BootIt Maintenance. Assumed IFD.
The folder is shared, has permissions, both for myself and system admin.
Files ALL are locked (not shared). Can be individually shared. Cannot be shared as children of the folder. That permission fails on EVERY file.

I have been using W7 for years. NO IDEA of how or why these files are locked and more or less useless, especially just after writing them. Sorry to waste your time on a windows problem.

The files get the permissions carried forward from its parent. If you don't
need anything on the volume, reformat it and may reset things, otherwise,
just change the permissions and owner of the file.
