IFW/IFL 2.87

Post by mjnelson99 »

Not sure how long it was taking with IFW 2.86. Seems like it was close
to an hour as well.

Today I did an image using IFW 2.87 to 10X SD card - just over an hour.

Then tried IFL 2.87 with a USB 3.0 card reader on USB 2 - about the same
time.

Then tried IFW having the card reader hooked up to USB 3. It took about
70 minutes, too. Was not sure what diff this might make initially.

I guess I plan on that time no matter what I use. Now @ about 45 GiB.

Sounds like the SD card's performance is the limiting factor from your
figures.
I wonder if a UHS 1 card would shorten the time?

My SLR supports these and I noticed a big performance boost when I
replaced my Class 10 cards with the faster ones. Just out of interest,
have you ever tried USB 3 pen drives?

My USB 3 port is on the right side of my computer and very in the way of
my mouse. May use it for creating an image periodically.

Looking at some of the reviews on Amazon, it looks like UHS SD cards are
faster on even USB 2 than Class 10.

I have a 32 GB card in my Amazon Shopping cart, deciding.
