OS positions

Post by hime3 »

Finally Win7Pro install and activated via phone.
BootNow functions perfectly.

EMBR partition positions are BIBM first, Win8, 1.7T Data extended with 6 volumes, Win7 last.
Will IFW image of BIBM, Win8, & Win7 (excluding Data partition) restore to new HD with 1.7T free space between Win8 & Win&?
If so, idea is to slide Win7 to a position after Win8 so I can make an image that does not include Date extended partition to restore image to new HD with contiguous partitions.

View MBR shows Win8 at top, Data, blank space, BIBM at bottom.
Any benefit to move Data down, & insert Win7 to be after Win8?

My understanding is that you do not want different versions of windows
to have access to others.

Personally, I would keep 7 & 8 totally separate.

Whether that can be done or not, an alternative should be to do three separate restore operations, 1 for BIBM. 1 for Win8, and 1 for Win 7. I'd think you could restore Win 7 to the area immediately following Win 8 eliminating any need to do any sliding.

Also there should be no need to worry about the location of Win 7 in order to "make an
