How to use IFD with SAMSUNG XE50071C tablet

Post by Stonefox »

I would liek to make a image of my new Samsung 500T tablet using IFD.
It comes installed with windows 8.

I cant figure out how to make it see the IFD boot USB stick.

Any help appreciated.

Please note: I have only recently bought IFW & IFD and am not as powerful a user as what I see in other posts.

Use the Image for Linux boot disk which support USB3 - otherwise the BIOS
must support USB3 (it would map in the device as a "BIOS" device if attached
at boot). You could also try Image for UEFI if that system has UEFI and
UEFI version is stable and complete.

Stonefox,

I have the same problem with my Asus tablet. We have Atom processors and they don't support booting Linux. But a TBWinRE USB flash drive will boot. You can create IFW images in Win8 or from the TBWinRE flash drive.

Thanks Brian.
I looked in detail at the tutorial you suggested.
I don't want to put any new software on the new samsung [including IFW] until i have made an image, so how do I make a TBWinRE USB flash drive which will boot?

Stonefox,

Install IFW in your desktop and create a TBWinRE UFD. It should boot in your Samsung. Ideally you should create the UFD in the device where it will be used but you would prefer to create an image first.

Would IFD work?
Just use Makedisk.exe to create your bootable disk.

The susmsang 500T just doesn't see the USB at boot. tried making several different versions of IFD but no luck at all. I don't know how to make the hardware boot from the IFD USB, any ideas?

I doubt you have a Legacy choice in your BIOS. I don't either. So IFD won't boot.

TBWinRE will boot in UEFI and Legacy BIOS.
