MULTI OS Boot W7/8.1

Post by DELTA624826 »

Is there a "knowledge base" file on installing both W7 and 8.1 on the same physical drive (laptop)

No problem loading Linux and W7. No problem loading W7/8.1 using MS Boot Manager instead of BooIT.

Goal is Linux, XP, W7, W8.1 on single drive for a laptop.

Dave,

There are several videos on this page that show you how to multi-boot...

After W8.1 loaded, still needed SYSTEM RESERVED. It was its own menu with the boot manager.

Used knowledgebase id=409. To move Boot Manager and BCD to W7 and W8.1 partitions.
Used online info on BCDEDIT. Removed unwanted menu item from each BCD.

Now boots (from BootIt) directly to desired OS (without Boot Manger Menu).

Problem solved. Also works if BootIt installed AFTER you had already installed W7 and or W8.1
