OS X

Post by novice »

Hello,

I have an AMD system with four drives which are; 3 SSD's and 1 HD.
2 120g ssd, 1 500g ssd and a 1000g hd.
The 500g ssd contains 2 window7's and a 120g ssd has windows 8.
The 1000g has EMBR partition and data partition.
That leaves me with one empty 120g ssd.

I would like to install Mac OS X on this empty drive.
I have BIBM as boot manager.

Is this possible? Can BIMB play a role in this?

Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks
Bernard

Hello again,

As a follow up to my own message, this is what i propose to do.

I have an Asus MB with UIFE. When i open the BIOS i first get the UIFE screen which is called EZ mode.
In this GUI i have a Boot tab, when opening it gives me a boot screen listing all the drives.

So, if i unplug all drives except the empty one and proceed to install OS X on it, which might be quite the task, and plug all back in, would this then allow me to boot OS X from UIFE and the other OS's from BIBM?

Any thoughts?
Thanks again

i'll admit i've never actually attempted a 'hackintosh,' but i have perused those sites for at least two years because i wanted one. Seems like even the best installs end up with problems -- OS X updates break them, features don't work, etc. In the end I decided it wasn't worth the hassle. Ultimately, Win8.x is what drove me into the arms of Apple, and I say that as a daily Windows user since 3.0.

I finally said 'screw it' and bought myself one of the new 27" iMacs, had it delivered only a few days ago, and it's awesome. The display is nothing short of spectacular. Google 'Apple education discount' & shop thru those links. It's not much of a discount, but every bit helps. They don't verify you're a teacher or student.

Thanks for your input.

After trying several different ways of trying to install this OS, i gave up.
I come to the realization that my MB is not compatible.
Anyway, It was fun trying.

Tanks again,

Did you try the hackintosh link that I gave? Apparently, Apple has
made it very difficult to install OS X on non-Apple hardware. Also,
they have 'got' to Sun so VirtualBox cannot be used either.

Hello DrT

Just noticed that I did not reply to your question.

Yes, I did delve into the HackinTosh site and came to the conclusion that an OSx install on my system (AMD MB) is not a go.
According to their info, installing on a Intel computer is possible but with many hurdles to overcome.
So, I let it rest.

Thanks for your input.
