Need Help Creating Boot Cd

Post by WilliamP »

I am new to Image for Windows and would appreciate some help. I have an ASUS laptop with Windows 7 64bit. I am following the instructions to make the boot CD but so far I can't find the ISO image to burn. When it creates the image where does it go. I have created and burned ISO images on XP but not on 7.

For IFD/IFL you just run makedisk and it can burn the CD/DVD for you.

For IFW, if you want a Windows boot disk -

You can use BurnCDCC from the terabyte free downloads page to burn ISO files
to CD/DVD/BD.

If you're talking about you creating a backup, the .tbi files is placed
where ever you put it. If you use right click, backup drive, then it's in
My Backups under My Documents.

To create the boot disk, you don't even need an iso file.
Just use Makedisk.exe, being sure to insert your product key
when asked. Otherwise, you will need to insert every time
you use the product.

It may help if you download the separate Image for DOS/Image
for Linux files, unzip and use those. Again, include the
registration key every time you create a new disk.

Makddisk.exe can also create a bootable SD card and probably
standard USB flash drive. SD cards make booting faster than
using a CD/DVD, and certainly faster than booting from a floppy.

I went into the BIOS and set it to boot from CD drive . Now when I put the disk in and boot I get a screen asking me to put in the key. The cursor is in the name line and I can't get it to move down to the Key line.

I think I have figured it out. I started over and this time on the options screen I checked the box to Use Win.7 MBR and now the CD works. Thank you for your help.
