RSS Feeds for TBU

Post by userX »

When I click on the link on this website for RSS feeds here:

http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/teraby ... pdates.rss

All I get is an html-looking document, which shows a lot of this type of thing:

-

-

TeraByte Unlimited Software Updates

Notifications of TeraByte Unlimited Software upgrades.

-

TeraByte Unlimited Announces Version 2.80 of its Image for Windows/DOS/Linux Drive Image Backup Software

-

-

So what do I need to make the feed come to my machine automatically? What are my options for this?

You need to view this with a feed reader. There are standalone ones or addons for browsers. See http://mashable.com/2007/06/11/rss-toolbox/ for example.

Your clue about the browser got me to looking at mine more carefully, IE 10. Apparently, this functionality was turned off by default, and I have now rectified it. There is even a method of feeding the, eh, feed into Outlook from the OS common feeds. Thank you. :geek:

As I looked into this feature more thoroughly with my applications in Windows 7, it turns out that they work exceedingly well together. Using IE 10 with my RSS feeds feature activated, it apprises me of the presence of feeds on a site, which I can then click to see the list of what is available. If I subscribe by clicking, it goes into a Common Feeds storage place in my system, which then turns on these feeds to any other program I have syncing with it, like Outlook mail client. It is quite efficiently handled, and I am glad that I worked it out now.

Only one thing I noticed that I cannot explain is why it does not sync when I click the feed on this website, the one here: http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/teraby ... pdates.rss

so I was wondering whether there is something broken in that feed's protocol or what could be the cause of it not working like the others I have? Not sure what could cause that issue.
