I noticed in Windows 8 that Windows Updates are not creating Restore Points.
In fact I have been running Win8 for a couple of months and there are no
Restore Points.
The amount of space to use was at 0%. I increased it to 15%.
The next day I checked to see if any Restore Points and there were none and
the space
used was back at 0%.
So I raised the percentage again and manually created a Restore Point.
After a couple boots, I checked again and now my manual Restore Point was
gone and back to 0% for space used.
I looked at MS forums and a lot of people have the same problem but they are
saying about dual booting causes that.
They must all be using the Windows Dual boot. I remember in the TBI forums
one time this was mentioned between XP and Windows Vista when they weren't
hidden from each other.
But I am using BM v1.14 and have Win8 and Win7 dual booting and each is
hidden from the other.
Anyone else notice this and if so, you have a fix ?
Thanks,
Ed.

Make sure that that is the case. I do not hide my windows installs
from each other, I just do not put them in the MBR.
Another thing that will make restore points disappear is third party
defraggers. If they run automatically, and some/most have a defrag
when idle mode, that will wipe out the points too.

Re: Win8 Restore Points
Thanks for the reply. This is a clean install with no programs on it yet.
Just has Windows Updates.
I made a restore point before I changed vid drivers. It was there and then
it wasn't later.
I have been a user since 2002 or maybe earlier. I have always done the
hiding without a problem.
I see others complaining about it with Windows 8. Maybe MS will do something
about it.
