Unable to execute TBOSBOOTSTR

Postby kamco » Wed Nov 21, 2012 7:19 am

The last version of Bootit BM that I have been able to upgrade to was 1.11. After installation of any later version I get "Unable to execute TBOSBOOTSTR". I have uninstalled the newer versions, and tried reinstalling with a new Bootit partion but the result is the same. There are two bootable partitions on HD0 (Windows 7 and Windows XP) . I'm using the standard boot.ini to select the operating system now but I would like to install the latest version 1.13 to get the newer version 2.77 of Image for Dos. I can run Bootit BM 1.13 from the CD but cannot install to the hard drive. Again, version 1.11 is the last version that will install and run on this hard drive.

That's only booting from the hard drive or booting from floppy, CD, etc.. ?
What does the geometry of the drive show? What mode is your BIOS in for
geometry (AUTO or LBA or LARGE)? How old a system is it (make/model of
system or mobo and BIOS version) ?

Message occurs when booting from the hard drive. I can successfully boot to the CD.

Motherboard : Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3Rv2 Bios:FH5 ( No HD mode settings in bios )

HD0: OCZ-AGILITY2 3.5 (CO-Z10EBZ7WB3REZ2L84)
Media: Fixed
Cylinders: 10945
Tracks: 255
Sectors: 63
Bytes: 512
Total Size: 90,028,302,336

The partitions on this SSD were copied/cloned from an older HD.

If you need other information, let me know.

have you tried deleting the BootIt partition and let it create it again?
It's loaded all the way to tbos and attempting to load in the file.

Yes. I have tried creating a new Bootit partition after deleting the old one and the result is the same. My next step will be to try moving my to partitions to a new SSD, just in case there is something funky about the current drive.

(This is a follow-up on my own original posting. The problem has been SOLVED.)

I moved the partitions to a new, larger SSD and the result was still the same - unable to execute TBOSBOOTSTR. The older original hard drive was then tested in a cobbled up workbench setting that used an entirely different motherboard and the latest BootIt BM booted and worked perfectly! Aha! After experimenting with some older bios versions for the GA-X58A-UD3R motherboard I was able to revert to one that didn't break BootIt BM . Thanks to all for your help .

thanks for the follow up, you may want to report to gigibyte - they are
pretty good about fixing their BIOS issues when reported.
