BootIt BM 1.11 with IFD 2.75

Post by DerekG »

When the IFD content of the BooItBM is upgraded in the standalone product, how are customers expected to extract the essential IMAGE components and merge them into a makedisk for BootITBM 1.11? Should not a BootIt BM 1.12 be released even though the boot management functionality hasn't changed? My reason for asking is that the backups created by IFD and IFW appear to be version sensitive and it is not a good idea for BootITBM to be stuck on IFD 2.74 when the other companions are all upgraded to 2.75. Maybe version 1.11 of BootItBM has been refreshed with IFD 2.75, but the date information on the download page does not indicate this.

Derek,

Do you have BIBM installed on the HD? If not you can use the standalone IFD 2.75 disk.

The development team have solved the problem by releasing version 1.12. Maybe I should have just been more patient, but I was really freaked out thinking about merging 1.11 and 2.75 by myself?

Derek,

No need to do it now but you can copy image.exe into the BIBM partition using TBOSDT or by the method on page 65 in the BIBM manual.

only certain versions matter where you can't use an older version to restore
an image created with a newer one. 2.74 to 2.75 isn't one of them.

Would it be possible to produce a KB article detailing version
incompatibilities?
