We use IFD 2.60 to image product HDDs. A WDC HDD being implemented is an Advanced Format drive. WDC says: "Many cloning software tools have not been updated to support Advanced Format hard drives...If you have already cloned a hard drive onto a WD Advanced Format Hard Drive using another cloning utility, you should use the WD Align software program to optimally align the drive." I imaged the new HDD, ran tests to qualify it on our systems. I then ran Western Digital's Align software, a 5 minute process, then re-ran Performance Test 7.0 and rcvd a 15 point Disk Mark higher score. I don't find "Advanced Format drive" in the IFD user's guide. What does TeraByte say about these Advanced Format drives? Exact drive in question is WD1600BPVT.
Thanks,
Paul

Re: Advanced Format drive
You enable the global option Align partitions on 2048 sectors and if
restoring an entire drive, use "aligned restore" option (if it wasn't
already aligned).

If you run performance tests under windows, ensure you run several times,
over a period of time to get accurate results, after a boot with changes it
may take awhile for the operating system to settle down doing
changes/updates to itself.

Re: Advanced Format drive
You may want to update to IFD 2.70 as well and find out if
it makes a difference.
