BootIt BM crashes on reboot!

Post by peat »

I have recently bougt a new Laptop (HP 635 with only Sata-Drives no IDE).
Now i have installed Xubuntu Linux and Windows 7 on this machine.
I use BootIt BareMetal as Bootmanager.
If i choose Reboot on either Win7 or Xubuntu BootIt always hangs on Please Wait.
i have to poweroff then. Everything else in BootIt works!
On my Desktop-PC everything including Reboot works normal from all my OSes.
Any Idea whats going wrong here?

For one, ensure you're using 1.08.

Next, are do you see the post and you're able to enter it on the reboot? A
clean reboot should have the BIOS reinit everything back to normal. At
Please Wait it's only loading, hasn't even gotten to where it would switch
video modes. Perhaps some BIOS device is powered off by the OS during
reboot and it's delaying trying to access it? How long have you waited?
Click the reboot button on the BIBM desktop, to see if the BIOS is doing
anything on the reboot.

First, thanks for the fast reply!!!

I'm using Version 1.08.
On Reboot i can see the Bios-Screen and the Esc-key gets me inside the Biosmenu like normal.
If i choose Continue Boot the Bootmanager hangs also on Please Wait. But again only after Reboot.
After a cold start i can get in and out from the Bios and BootIt works.
It only hangs after Rebooting from an OS.
I have waited a few minutes but it hangs until i Poweroff and Turn On again.

Reboot from the BootIt Desktop works every time !?! Very curious!

remove mouse support and see if the OS reconfigured the USB controller but
BIOS warm reboot not able to program/access it. Please Wait it would be
loading the mouse driver then the program.

I have installed BootIt without Mouse-Support an Rebooting works.
So it must be Usb-related.

Any workaround?
Cause BootIt without Mouse-Support is not so useable! :(

How often do you actually need mouse support once things are
set up?

You could boot BIBM from CD/DVD with mouse support enabled
when you need to.

Might be a workaround until you get a better answer.

Try enabling mouse support and use IT Mode. That might get around the rebooting problem. You can still access BootIt after a shutdown.

Borrow a friends USB mouse and try different brands of mice.

Several Logitech USB mice work for me, MS and cheap off brands not so
much.

Any news on this issue

Is there a chance of getting a new mousedriver for bootit?
Or maybe an option to disable / enable the mouse on the bootit-desktop?

I have renamed Mouse.com for now to workaround this problem.
