Proglem with old Thinkpad

Post by jjmartin »

I have an old IBM Thinkpad laptop, with Windows 2000.
Image for DOS works fine to the internal CD writer, but will not recognize any USB drive, either the hard drive or a flash drive.
It always says "No useable HD found".
I have tried making the boot CD with USB option for 1.1 set, and also with the two other options set, no change. Also tried plugging the USB drives into the second port, no change.
It is on a wireless network with my main computer. Will Image for Windows work in this case? I've never used it, but if it should back up a computer with Win2000 running on it, I'll try it.
I'm really tired of using 3 CDs for every backup.

jjmartin,

I suggest you try IFL. It should see all your USB storage devices.

If you use IFW you will be able to write your images over the wireless network to another computer.

I tried Image for Linux. It gets an error during booting, never gets to the menu screen.

I'll give Image for Windows a try.

What version of IFD/IFL are you using?

Also, IFL networking might be needed for it to boot
correctly. I know I had problems a long time ago myself and
might have even been Version 1 IFL.

If using Version 2 products, you could also try Version 1
instead.
