Restore from a .tbi fito a new HD. Must it be formated first

Post by errolgreer »

I have Win 7 backed up to a .tbi file. I just bought a new HD (original died!). My question is should the new HD be formatted first with a drive letter and name, or just left as "unallocated" ?

It's not necessary to partition and format the drive first (the restore process will create the partitions). However, if partitions exist on the drive you can still restore to it, but you will be prompted to overwrite those partitions. Normally, it's easier to just restore to the blank drive.
