BiBM and ASUS P8P67 Motherboards.

OK, I use BING and have a P8P67 ASUS MB. It seems that ASUS messed up their legacy USB support.

Anyone have BiBM and an ASUS P8P67 MB? Does legacy USB support work?

You may find that one USB mouse works whilst another one does not. I
use a Logitech Wireless mouse (great hardware, AWFUL software - but
that can keep until another time) and it would not work with
BING/BIBM, but a bog-standard wired USB one did. kept both handy.

BTW, my previous non-working M/B and my current working one are BOTH
ASUS.

Asus used to be one of the best with USB legacy supported. If a mobo
company cuts corners and customers don't take them up on it, they will just
continue to leave things out.

I have installed BiBM on a system with an ASUS P8P67 DELUXE Motherboard and since a few days the mouse isn't working anymore. In the beginning it worked.
I really can 't remember what has changed since it stopped working (busy with getting the system up and running before a deadline).

Some info about the used hardware and software.
ASUS P8P67 DELUXE Motherboard (updated BIOS from 1305 to 2103 resolved mouse issues in EUFI)
ATEN 1734A KVM-switch
Logitech M-U0007 Mouse (needs software and doesn't work with the ATEN 1734A)
Logitech M-U0026 Mouse (doesn't need software and works with the ATEN 1734A)

Some info I do remember.
When installing the system with Windows 7 I had a problem with my mouse in the UEFI Bios. My mouse would not work properly. The BIOS update fixed those issues.
After installing BIBM the mouse worked for a few days, but now it doesn't work anymore. Using the "fix USB" options in BIBM doesn't help. And reinstalling BIBM wouldn't work either.

Legacy USB support is on in the BIOS.
So I have the keyboard functioning in UEFI, BIBM and Windows.
And the mousefunction in UEFI, Windows, but not anymore in BIBM.
A USB to PS/2 converter plug isn't working either...

I'll do some testing with other BIOS settings...
Because I can remember turning off controllers that I don't use at the moment.

I just got around to updating the BIOS on my ASUS Sabertooth P67 board to version 2103. My Logitech Mx518 USB mouse is now working (for the first time) in BIBM. Before, I would get just the mouse cursor in the middle of the screen and clicking the buttons would work, but I couldn't move it. The mouse has always worked correctly in the BIOS.

I'm hoping it will keep working in BIBM and not "fail" after a while. I'm curious if you find a BIOS setting that allows the mouse to work again for you.

An update...

I did a fresh install of Windows 7 today and driver installation for my Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS needs to be done without the devices connected.
So I unpluged all USB devices before the new install and guess what..? My mouse is back in BIBM..!

After installing Windows, I tested other USB devices, but only the Thrustmasters gave the problem. When they are connected before boot, the mousepointer stays in the centre of the screen. If I disconnect the Thrustmaster in BIBM, the mouse stays inactive. When I boot without the TM sticks connected, I have a mouse in BIBM. When I connect the TM sticks in BIBM, the mouse keeps on functioning...

So, in my case, it's the Thrustmasters in combination with the BIOS I think...

After a lot of testing I discovered that it wasn't the Thrustmasters.
When more then 3 or 4 (depending on which devices) were connected the problems started...
With just 3 USB devices everything worked fine.

I got a special test BIOS from ASUS but this one didn't solve the problems. In fact they were worse.
After entering the BIOS and then exiting, also my keyboard was gone in BIBM... And sometimes if there was a working mouse (with less USB devices connected), the mouse would left click by itself.

After filling forms with used hardware they said they could not reproduce the problem...
After giving serial numbers of the hardware and used USB ports they were silent for some weeks.

Now again they say they can't reproduce the problem and there was a new BIOS to download.

With this new BIOS there is a working mousecursor sometimes, but when placing it over a button it executes by itself (it leftclicks by itself). If I click the left mousebutton and keep it there I can move the cursor everywhere without a problem but if I lift the left button the cursor is autoexecuting again...
I now have an non existing partition defined at the place where the cursor is in the boot menu when I boot, because otherwise the partition underneath the cursor would boot by default when accidentally moving the mouse...
And now I'm waiting for it to autodelete partitions and me losing important data...
(maybe a 'no mouse' option in settings would be useful now; TeraByte Unlimited?)

I always loved ASUS for there hardware. Not there software. It has always been buggy from start to finish... DON'T ever use their software..!!!

The Bootcontroller supports 2TB. The datacontroller doesn't... Well it does, but that one needs a BIOS update... And ASUS won't do it... (as far is I remember Intel did in there MoBo's)

Is GigaByte better with there BIOS (updates), or will I have to go back to Intel MoBo's..?

did you try mixing the USB devices to see if there was one or two combined
that causes an issue, some type of host controller, bridge controller
conflict? Also sometimes when you try to get another device for testing the
revision level of the chipset is updated/changed or sometimes there is a
bug/problem with one that doesn't really reflect itself on other devices.

Anyway, you can disable mouse support when creating the boot disk or via
edit file on the bootit partition, tbosboot.str and remove the mouse driver,
reboot.

You could also try using a powered USB hub if not
doing so now. Some are better than others.
