Hello again,
Have been experimenting with multiple Linux distros/installs since I got BM working well with EMBR about a week ago.
Question: I have set up Linux Extended partition several times w/multiple Linux installs. Have now deleted them all, all that remains in Win10, EMBR and a NTFS shared data partition at end of disk. I have about 400gb free space. In BM partition work now I want to create another Linux Extended partition, but this type is not available in drop down list. There currently is no other extended partition.
What am I missing?
Linux Extended partition ???
Re: Linux Extended partition ???
I believe you need to set up an extended partition, and then within that,
set up your required Linux logical partition.

Yes, I know.
I would like to understand why Linux Extended Partition is not available in drop down list as file system type. It has been before, so something is different. I am simply unsure what that is.
Thx

Re: Linux Extended partition ???
you'd have to enable the option to show the complete list in settings.

You keep on talking about a Linux extended partition. There is no such
thing. It is just an Extended partition.

Brian,
In my EMBR BM in partition work, my only extended system type available creating within freespace is: Extended (15/fh).
If I define a partition from empty space with this, that is only extended partition type available. However, *after* it is defined... going into "Properties" for that partition, you have a Linux Extended type available (133/85h). I've tried installations w/both, and both seem to work.
What is functional difference between them? I've read some articles saying Linux Extended is designed for storage of info LInux "likes to have", but I haven't found specifics. I'd just appreciate some clarification.
Thx.

jdmckay,
To see 133/85h in the Partition list go to Settings on your BIBM desktop and select "Full Partition List". You are only seeing a minority of the partition types at present.

As far as Linux itself is concerned, it doesn't matter. However, if you dual boot the system with Windows, and need Windows to be able to access one or more of the volumes inside the extended partition, then you need to use the type Fh extended partition. Windows will not recognize a type 85h Linux extended partition.
