Save as defaults - unexpected behaviour

Post by DrTeeth »

Hi,

Installed a couple of 2TB hard disks today and busy backing up. I have
saved 'speed up changes only backups (sorry if not exact words)' as a
default.

I cleared the option for one backup and when I started the next full
backup, it was not ticked. Expected behaviour if for the box to be
ticked if removed for a backup without having to restart IfW.

I have one Linux Swapfile for all my distros and back it up as it is
referenced by UUID in each distro.

yes, it only loads the defaults at the start, and remembers any changes
until you exit the program (they are lost if not saved).

My point is that that is unexpected behaviour. Personally, I would
expect the defaults to appear at the start of every backup job without
having to reload IfW.

The existing method seem more logical and useful to me. If I set
special options I expect them to remain while IFW is loaded, so that I
don't have to keep re-specifying them for multiple runs. If I want to
reset the options I simply close and reload IFW. Best of both worlds.

Another annoying feature is that if I do a full backup, the option
stays, if I do a changes only backup, the option is not selected as it
is applicable to only full backups - BUT if I do another full backup
the option has cleared. At the very least it should stay put for full
backups unless cleared by the user. To reiterate as the thread is old,
I am only talking about the 'speed up changed-only backups'.
