Disk Signature clash

Post by GordonM »

I have recently used IFW to image and restore to a different drive and then I am continuing to use the old drive in the system. Acronis Health Monitor is reporting that the sgnatures of the two drives are the same. I think that the reason for this is that, in error, I included the MBR when making the image. Is there a way to change the disk signature of the old drive? This doesn't seem to have prevented the old drive being allocated a drive letter.

Thank you

You can use the change disk signature option when doing the copy or restore.
You can use BootIt to change the signature or clear it and will be
recreated. If using Vista or later, the OS changes the other drives disk
signature, but won't boot that drive afterwards, use the BCD Edit in BootIt
to fix the device and os device entries.

Pages 60-61 of the Image for Windows manual is what you need, but the
illustration on page 60 appears to be too old and does not short the
option I think you need, that explained at the bottom of page 61.
Searching for 'signature' brings up many hits which may be more
helpful than the one I mentioned earlier in this post.

Thanks both. I am using XP on this system so, maybe this won't be too difficult.
